What is Free Play?

As a way to get gamblers to try out their software, the folks at Microgaming developed a Free Play capability in their software. While every casino allows you to play "for fun", this promotion is unique in that it ties your performance in the free play sessions to the amount of a sign up bonus you will receive. This gives us an opportunity to receive a great bonus, risking nothing to receive it. There are a few different varieties of the Free Play currently out there. Most of them give you a set amount of play credits to play with (from $200 to $750) and any amount over the play credit amount becomes your bonus amount after you deposit a minimum amount (from $20 to $50 typically). Then there a few varieties that give you a set number of "free spins" on a certain slot machine, or any slot machine, and whatever you win over your starting balance with those spins can be converted into your sign up bonus. These bonuses end up being vastly better than their matching bonuses, with 200-400% bonuses common with optimal free play. Now there are a few rules that have to be followed before you are allowed to receive the bonus, and those vary by casino group. The common requirements are a minimum number of bets (example, "must make 100 bets before claiming a bonus" ) or a minimum wagering requirement (example "must wager 10X the amount of your starting play balance before claiming a bonus" ). Depending on the casino, they may also have restricitions on whether you can play slots only, a certain slot only, or any game. The minimum deposit will also vary, but is typically from $20 to $50.

How to I play it?

The way we recommend playing these, is downloading the casino and starting the freeplay. If Baccarat or Roulette is allowed, then go in with maximum bets with a goal of reaching the maximum bonus amount over the starting balance. The maximum bonus amount varies by casino, but for example if they give you $750 to play with and transfer any amount up to $200, then you should get your credits up to at least $950 to transfer the maximum amount. Since it is a free play, you should really always try to maximize the bonus or bust the freeplay since it really doesn't cost you anything to try. When I do these, I want to quickly either bust out or reach the maximum bonus so I don't waste any time. To do this, I check what the maximum bet is in Baccarat and Roulette. They will often times have the maximum bet lowered during these free play sessions so it can be a challenge to get your credits high enough. If they do have low limits, one way around it is to play roulette with max bets on every odd (or even number) which will typically pay out enough to maximize the bonus if you win. After you hit the target, make sure to meet any playthrough requirements (such as 100 bets or 10X the starting credits amount) before claiming the bonus or you will forfeit it.

If they are offering a slots only promotion, then pick a slot and go to town. We suggest going into one of the slot games that has autoplay, choosing the "Stop when balance increases by XXX" option. Set the XXX amount to whatever it needs to be to get $200 higher balance than your initial credit amount. I used the "High 5" slot but any single payline, 3 reel slot will probably be fine. Some people have also had really good luck using the "Gamble" feature when they have a decent sized win. You can use the "gamble" feature after a win by clicking on the gamble button. Then you simply pick black or red for the card shown and if you guess right, you get the amount of credits they mention. If you run lucky for a few gambles in a row, you can easily get your balance over where it needs to be. With 300 or so credit starting amount, you should be able to increase your credits by 200 or more about 50% of the time. If not, you have lost nothing but a little time.

Once you have met the minimum play requirements (the 100 bets or 10X the starting balance), and as soon as you increase your balance by 200 credits (or whatever the maximum bonus for the freeplay is), click on the "Finish Now " button to transfer the bonus amount to your real money account. Then deposit the minimum deposit amount into your account. This will give you an amount in your cash balance and bonus balance.
